Space Crusade Mash Up

Six months ago (roughly) I picked up a copy of Space Crusade off of feebay.

I will admit that I have never played the game, but I remember when it came out and seeing it at GenCon.  There are two main appeals for me.  One, that it is essentially the introduction “board” game into GW 40k just like Heroquest was for Warhammer Fantasy.  And I love me some Heroquest.  So, it has that going for it.

The second appeal to me is that it features multiple marines and alien races.  So, I’m thinking that is will be a blast to paint up.  You have Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, and Chaos Marines.  Add in genestealers, Orks, Gretchin, and android Necron thingys and that is quite the grouping. Plus a ED-209 lookin' chaos dreadnought.

Yes, there was Space Hulk, which I did play 20 years ago, but it so limited in its view of 40k to only Terminators and Genestealers. I'm thinking that you could add a bunch of stuff to this game to make it even cooler.  Each player gets a crew of marines to fight with so it ups the ante on what you the GM can throw at them.
First up the android Necrons.  Why?  Because they are the easiest to paint up.  I picked up some plastic modern Necrons to go with the androids, because frankly the androids look really lame.

  1. I too, love me some Heroquest, but Space Hulk was a total bore/grind for me. Maybe this version is better, or maybe I just sucked at playing Space Hulk. Regardless, that set looks sweet. Paint 'em all up real good!

  2. Wait, I wasn't paying attention... that's not Space Hulk. This has promise.
